“Very Rewarding”

—Kurt Zimmerman, Principal + Project Manager

Biggest Challenge:

Demolishing a 15-ton bank vault

Details:

The second floor, new home to the Center’s Management Offices, used to be the Far East Bank and they left behind an enormous vault. The walls were two feet thick and matted with rebar. Jackhammers were out of the question, so we found a creative solution to complete the demolition. We hired a robot to do the job. It always comes down to value engineering for us—finding the best means and methods to reduce costs to obtain the best results. The robot finished the job under budget.
